The place that seemed like it could possibly have been the best experience very nearly was. We journeyed to a place called Beng Mealea which was the same floorplan as Angkor Wat but not nearly as big, it seemed.
It was the classic in the jungle, overwhelmed by strangler fig trees, crumbling, collapsed walls and towers in places, adventure in the temples kind of place.
But since there were platforms built around and through the ruins and rocks, we were slightly disdainful of the place. They were built by some film crew for the film Two Brothers, apparently about two tigers. They were cubs at this location I guess.
So our disdain apparently caused the gods a little angst, and the temple bit us back. Shiva made sure we all bounced around, and I popped my left ankle on one slip. Thank you titanium implants and Vishnu for not allowing me another break. But I walked it off, no worse for wear, and we all strolled out with no major pains for our gains.
